Introducing the EU Digital Decade

In March 2021 the European Commission presented a plan for Europe’s future whereby all would be able to benefit from the ongoing digital transformation of Europe. This vision, entitled the ‘Digital Decade’, has given rise to an avalanche of legislation originating from the EU. In this article Stanley Greenstein, associate professor and senior lecturer at Stockholm University, explains what the Digital Decade is, highlights the legislative initiatives arising from it and assesses the extent to which it has been effective thus far.
